God works in mysterious ways… Never thought “Snedsteg” would end up as number 1 for many weeks on Iskelmä Radio with the band Yö. It’s over 12years since I wrote it! Thank you Sony Music, Elements Music and the legendary band Yö for picking up this song and making a cover of it. It’s a real treat and honor to have been able to contribute with even a tiny bit to such a legacy band in Finland rock history. Yö is kind of like Swedens Gyllene Tider!
Also thank you till my good friend Fredrik Furu who co-wrote the original lyrics with me!
Here´s my new song on Universal Stockholm, Alex Kunnari & Jimmy W feat Jacob Luttrell – Fly Away.
We had a lot of fun doing it back in Los Angeles!
Check out the lyric video!
Alex Kunnari is one of the most successful DJs to come out of Finland, proven by his previous club hits like Lifter or City Of Sin, remixes for Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Chicane or bringing Armin van Buuren, Axwell, Hardwell and Above & Beyond to his 30 000 people Summer Sound Festival. This summer he has a residency at the legendary Space Ibiza which is just another testament that world has started to notice him.
Fly Away might be Kunnari’s strongest work so far. Featuring amazingly catchy and summery vocal by Jacob Luttrell (who has penned hit singles for David Guetta, Timbaland and Flo Rida) and fellow producer Jimmy W who has produced countless hits for the likes of Pitbull and Joel Madden. Fly Away is also the theme track for the 2014 edition of Alex’s Summer Sound Festival where Avicii, Axwell, Dash Berlin, Eric Prydz, Markus Schulz, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Steve Angello, Sander van Doorn and Tiësto are playing.
The radio version oozes cross over potential while the club mixes offer a range of genres from big room progressive and electro house to uplifting trance. The Club Mix has already been road tested with great success at the early Ibiza season events and we can’t wait to present the whole package to the world.
Was honored (together with a nice trio of producers) to be featured in the January article of the Finland Musicians Federation Magazine (Muusikoiden Liitto). Quoting the headline “Mystical Producers Blow Life Into The Music” 3 pages of insight into how us producers/songwriters/engineers/mixers work and how music is made today.. Don´t know if I can sign under that I am one of the top producer as in my opinion there are a couple other guys that should have made the list But sure I will accept the kind words and it is rather flattering to get some appraising & rewarding critique between all the hard work. But I remind you all that there is no scientifically accurate methods of analysing these kind of things who is the best or things alike, it´s all perception.
But all in all very tastefully written and at least me personally as a big fan I was very anxiously eager to read about amazing Jonas Olsson and legendary Hiili Hiilesmaa how they think, how they make their magic and how they accomplish their daily routines. A lot of content and behind the scenes in this article.
Did all the sound design and mix for it, also voice overs and edits. 300 tracks of sound, music and fx.
It won “New York Times Critics Pick” and it´s been aired on PBS in the U.S and so on… Long days & nights at the studio with director director Michael Singh left a lot of memories and I got to work with amongst others legendary Mike Farrell. Fascinating story and an important film.
“Michael Singh’s documentary Valentino’s Ghost. This engrossing examination of American perceptions of Arabs and the Arab world gets you thinking…Valentino’s Ghost is an invaluable entry in the national dialogue on the [Middle East].” -Andy Webster, The New York Times
